Designed as a medical office building, this five-story, 70,000-sf building was engineered in accordance with IBC Required Occupancy for Category III Buildings since the office complex also serves long-term residency needs.
FEATURES:
• Floors are concrete on composite steel deck supported by steel joists at 5 feet +/- oc.
• Roof system is steel deck supported by steel joists at 6 – 7 oc.
• The floor joists and roof joists are supported by steel beams and columns.
• The foundation system consists of spread footings. Special care was required for the design of this new building’s foundation system so as not to interfere with the foundation for the existing building to the south of this building.
• The lateral system used concentric braced frames in the east/west
direction and concrete shear walls for the north-south system.
