This is an award winning, historic restoration of a 1939 Art-Deco structure which required virtually dismantling the building’s interior in order to thread large steel columns through openings cut through 13 floors. New steel beams and braces were then added to bring the building up to current seismic code. Some of the existing concrete columns were also strengthened by a fiber wrap encasement.
