About Us

Calder Richards Structural Engineers

Our History

Our firm, Calder Richards, was established in 2005 with the merger of two of Utah’s leading structural engineering companies:  Calder Kankainen Consulting Engineers (CKCE) + Richards Consulting Group (RCG), each founded in 1986.  Kelly Calder’s and JR Richards’ vision for delivering a broader spectrum of services from the union of their two firms proved to be a bold and brilliant strategy.  From engineering for the 2002 Olympics to seismically upgrading Utah’s iconic historic buildings, the creation of Calder Richards continues the founder’s long-standing commitment to building lasting relationships and technical excellence.
